Very small tiled squares on landscape not the large square pre light bake issue

I’m getting very small tiled squares in my landscape, anyone have any clue whats going on, Iv’e tried switching to static lighting, and re baking the light but I cant get rid of them.

Tried switching lighting, applying new material,Changing terrain quads from 127x127 quads to 63x63, tried changing 1x1 sections to 2x2. Tried downscaling my heightmap to 1024x1024 from 2048x2048, tried changing number of componets from 17x17 to 16x16, tried changing static lighting resolution to 5 from the default on landscape. I have done all this with a new light bake each time. Still cant track the issue down! Been at this for around 6 hours now, will check back tomorrow with more trial and error.

Hi Comatos,

What size texture are you using for your landscape? Have you added landscapecoordinates or texturecoordinates to the material? If so what have you set the values to? It looks like the texture you are using is simply very small and tiled so without using coordinates to scale it you are getting less optimal results.

Im using 2048 texture on the landscape, I have texture coordinates in heres a pic.

Ill try switching to landscape texture coords see if that helps, and mess with the tiling

Additionally are you using world machine to create your landscape?

I used world machine as a second step for the terrain but then went back to mudbox for fixes then into unreal as heightmap, then adjustments with unreals editor to where im at now. Thanks for the response that was the issue, I didn’t realize it tiled it so small. Should of been the first thing I tried lol. Im new to how unreals textures work with the terrain, should I be using a smaller map size?

Looks like switching the custom uv to 0 in landscape tex coords fixed everything

As long as your map is powers of 2 and the resolution of the heightmap matches (as far as I understand it, I’m still learning more about landscapes and landscape materials myself!) the resolution of your material it shouldn’t be too much of a problem. I will mark this as answered for now, if you need more assistance with this particular issue please let me know I’ll be happy to assist.
