Project Light from Materials?

I’ve got a bit of a tricky question here and I’m not even sure if it is possible. Although, in UE4 anything seems possible.

I’ve got series of meshes aligned in a certain position that need to have a specific colour gradient. I’ve positioned 139 actors to make the silhouette of this tree but there are only 19 individual meshes all together. Basically, I’ve duplicated 19 of my meshes to make the tree.

What I want to do is to be able to position a material behind the mesh, that is only visible by looking through the the actors that I have placed that form the tree.

I have all of the 139 actors fractured, so they explode. Basically, when the actor fragments pass the material, the colour/light from the material behind it projects the colour/light through it, but it is ONLY visible when looking through the mesh itself.

Is this possible? Any feedback would be amazing. Thanks.

Anyone? I’m struggling to work it out myself.

Hmm, it’s not quite what I’m after. Using sceneCapture2D will not make it dynamic. Although, it’ll fake the effect?
