Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

uninstall ue4 source?

I have two versions of ue4 4.6 installed, one source from github and a normal downloaded one which I updated through the launcher. I'd like to uninstall the github one since it's taking up 23gb on my drive. when I got into my control panel I can only see one program called 'unreal engine', but I don't want to uninstall them both. how do I delete the github version without affecting my other copy of ue4?

thank you!

Hey HSbF6,

If know where you put the GitHub version, it's as simple as deleting the folder. There's no uninstall process necessary for GitHub builds. Hope that helps!

I cannot delete UnrealEngine\Engine\Saved\Config\Windows. I am admin and cannot change rights on the folder to delete it. No solution from Google yielded any results. Is there some way to delete that folder or get access to it?

I am able to recover all the Engine files if that is of any help.

Edit: Nevermind, I solved it by booting Ubuntu from DVD and deleting everything from there.

Hi 2rusbekov,

When you get the engine from GitHub, you're getting the full, uncompiled source for the engine. The binary version already has a lot of this built, so it's much smaller, but if you want to edit source you need to get everything and build it yourself. It ends up being a much larger folder.
