FBX Export from Unreal to 3ds Max

Hello.
I am trying to figure out if it is possible to export specific sections of an Unreal Engine 4 level, back into a 3d modelling application using the FBX format.
So scale, rotation and position of the objects should be exactly like they are in the UE4 level.
I imagine that a way better solution for creating specific animations and simulations for a cutscene in matinee.

I saw some video a while ago about the making of the explosion used in the “Infiltrator” demo.
As far as I can remember the video showcased the FBX import of an entire scene from 3ds max into Unreal.
But not the other way round.

I am trying to create a short demo in Unreal, so any help on this topic would be appreciated.
Because if it turns out you can’t export from Unreal back into 3ds max I would have to build the environments in 3ds max and then export entire scenes as one FBX file.

Any help with this would be appreciated.

Editor Preferences > Experimental > Actor Merging. Enable that and restart the editor. Now when you select and right click on an actor in the level you’ll see Merge option. And when you merge actors it will create a new asset for that merged entity in the content browser. You can export it as an FBX and use that mesh to prepare your animations, simulations, etc.

Perfect! Exactly what I was looking for, thanks a bunch.

Cant find the actor merging command…
I can export as FBX, and the model opens, but the textures is not working.
THanks!

any update in 2.22 ??
