Launch UE4 from external drive?

Have you tried building from source on your external drive ? I believe that should work. But I haven’t tried that myself.

Hi is it possible to have UE4 launch from an external drive so I can take it with me when I work on another pc?

If so what would I need to do? Apologies as I’m sure this is quite a simple problem.

For best results, install UE4 on each PC you plan to use it on, by running through the download and install process on the Account page of www.UnrealEngine.com.

Then, place your new projects on the external drive, so you can easily move them around. By default, the Open Project window only shows projects stored in your user folder, but there’s a button at the bottom of the screen to load a project from any other location.

Good luck!

Thanks for the answer Tim ! But he/she might not have the admin rights to install it on his work PC. But I will let him/her comment about that.

PS : It is so great to see you help the community out yourself !

Hi Tim and other replys, yeah as darkZ says It for when I am at University where I don’t have admin right, though don’t worry we are updating over summer to use UE4 next semester so its just for in the interim (i’m impatient :P)

yeah i tried but it will only let me ‘remove’ when i go to install as it already detects my existing instalationon C:
