UE4Editor-Cmd.exe has crashed

I see there are many questions about this and fixes, but none of them worked for me.

  1. I start Unreal Engine launcher.
  2. I press Launch.
  3. Wait a couple of seconds and this is screen I get:

And this was in my clipboard after I got that screen

My specs:
Intel Core i7-2630QM CPU (Yes with Optimus)
8GB RAM
NVIDIA GT555M
Windows 7 64-bit

I normally force all my applications to use my NVIDIA card. In addition to that I also tried setting application specific settings in my NVIDIA control panel to use my High-performance NVIDIA processor as this answer suggests UE4Editor-Cmd.exe crashed after launch - Programming & Scripting - Epic Developer Community Forums

It still crashes on launch.

Here’s my dxdiag:

I used dll file found in this question and editor launched fine: Crash after launch with below min spec GPU - Programming & Scripting - Epic Developer Community Forums

Even though using aforementioned DLL file lets me launch editor, it does not use my NVIDIA card and runs horribly slow.

Hi! Where is you project files located? When I made a project i choose to put it somewhere else than default. I later began to have same problem you are having. So I made a new project in default location (C:\Users\Documents\Unreal Projects). Right now I’ve been working for ~3 hours with no crash. So this may be a fix for problem.

projects are all in default location.
Problem is, I cannot even start editor to open (or create) a project.

Hey ,

Are you still having issues opening editor, or is it just running slowly now? Did you follow instructions found here:

Hi ,

Yes I am still having issues and I followed these instructions as stated in my question. reason editor crashes is most likely because it is not using my NVIDIA GPU and other Intel GPU is incompatible.

Do note I am using editor version of last Thursday and I cannot update until next Thursday due to… reasons…

Using DLL found in this question allows me to start editor as it seemingly fixes an issue when using a GPU that does not support a certain feature, but it is still impossible for me to force UE4 to use my NVIDIA GT555M card: Crash after launch with below min spec GPU - Programming & Scripting - Epic Developer Community Forums

Hello,

Did this issue get resolved in 4.0.2 update? patches included may have fixed this issue. Please let us know.

Cheers!

Hi ,

Currently I cannot check, but I will definitely get back to you once I get opportunity again.

This is a different issue. Could you please make a new post for this?

Thank you!
