Can I create a Vector Field in Cascade?

I’m trying to create a vector field actor but I can’t find it anywhere on Mac. Also, how do you increase the bounds of a GPU emitter volume instead of scaling the individual emitters?

edit: found it in the class viewer

UE4 DEVS: can you put the Velocity Grid Exporter MEL script in the Mac install please? I had to grab it from the Windows install directory.

You can’t create Vector Fields in Cascade.
As of now you can only create them in Maya. You can find plugin here:

Engine\Extras\MayaVelocityGridExporter

And you create VectorField by using Fluid Simulation. Unfortunetly I can’t help you with that as I never used Fluid Simulation in Maya.

Then using this script you export vector field data, and import it to engine.

In Cascade right click on Emitter and in Type Data select GPU Sprites, then right click again on your emitter and under Vector Field you will be able to find Local Vector Field and Global Vector Field.

Add Local Vector Field, click on it, and in details panel select your imported Vector Field.

thanks - I managed to find the Maya MEL script in the Windows install directory (it’s not in the Mac installation) but it works with Mac. I seem to have it working with the emitter and exported velocity grid - it’s slowing down the particles - although there are no visible vector contents in the velocity grid. Is there a walkthrough on how to create one of these from Maya?

ok - answered my own question. IT’s here:

ack - I’m an idiot. It was set to frame zero so there was no vector data. Working great now with a higher frame

You can also create them in 3dsmax.

I also have a custom houdini plugin too, hit me up if anyone would like to test it.

Cheers,

battleAxeBlues,
I would love to take you up on your offer for the Houdini exporter.
Does the offset still stand?
