I loaded the landscape Mountain scene in UE4 4.6.1 and I re-render the lightmap as it was specified.
I just changed the static lighting resolution to 3 for the landscape and the uvs for the trees. The rendering is fine, I got nice shadows but I crash every time I want to save the project.
Here is the log
This is the callstack, if you could, please go to the file location \Unreal Projects\PROJECT NAME\saved\logs\ and post the most recent crash log available. Additionally if you could post your dxdiag we’ll be more than happy to take a look and see what might be occurring. Thank you!
Do you get any crashes when you build/save the landscape mountains demo without changing any lighting resolution or does it only occur when you change the resolution to 3?
Actually I was able to save the project with the resolution set to 2, but the shadows are too low resolution for the project I’m working on. So I decided to try 3 and it crashes every time I want to save. Maybe I should mention I had to change the location of the DerivedDataCache fodler, It was more than 30GB and I’ve got not space left on my drive C: So now this folder is on the same location as the project itself on drive D:
I am still looking into this, I haven’t been able to reproduce it as of yet but it more than likely is a RAM issue. When I bump the resolution to 3 my build lighting runs at 100% memory and CPU (viewable in task manager). This pc build has 32 gigs of RAM and the processor is a 12 core. It is probably just too much for the system to handle.
I added 16GB(32 in total), reformated my SSD, reinstall Windows 7 and unreal Engine, but I’m still crashing when I want to save the file. I tried with 4.6.1 and 4.7.0 preview 5. I don’t know what else to do to fix this problem?
We have not heard from you in several days. I am marking this thread as answered for tracking purposes. If you are still experiencing this crash, please comment with the requested information. Thank you.
I added a comment 7 days but I can’t see it ! Unfortunately, I moved the entire project as suggested but I still have this crash when I save the project:(
I apologize it has taken me so long to get back to you. To say the least it has been a little bit hectic! I haven’t been able to reproduce this on my end but I am going to try one more time. It may just be a situation where the Landscape Mountains project has to be run at resolution 2 or less at this point.
