Custom nav mesh

Hello. Is there a way how to import mesh and use it as a navigation mesh? But maybe I use wrong approach, I will try to explain what I am trying to do. I have flat landscape with few buildings and lot of walkways and roads. I need to limit pawn movement to those roads and walkways (later on, I would like to have two types of pawns, one that can move only on roads, one that can move on both). Is there any other way than to use navmesh modify volume to substract volumes? For me it would me pretty high ammount of volumes, not to mention it would be pretty hard to create right shape of blocking volumes.

Any progress? Is there option to import own mesh as a Nav mesh?
