Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

Crash with Splash Screens 4.7 Preview 4

We recently upgraded our 4.5.1 project to 4.7 Preview 4 and have been unable to packaged and run the application. After a long day of narrowing it down we have found this to be due to the Splash folder / Splash Screens Settings (possibly not being upgraded correctly by the engine). When removing the folder and not resetting the settings to default (which causes the Splash folder to be remade and the error to continue), the project packages as normal but actually runs fine. Hey JoshyMW,

My first question, did you use the 'Open a Copy' option or the 'Convert-In-Place' option when upgrading to the preview build?

Could you provide me with some reproducible steps to get this error to occur on my end?

As a side note, we always suggest never converting your main project over to a preview build because these builds are not as stable and are mean as a showcase for the upcoming features for that release.

Hi Andrew,

We used 'Convert-In-Place'; switching the version of the project through the right click windows context menu on the Unreal Engine Project File and picking 4.7.

I understand that, we had made a copy of the project prior to the upgrade.

Regards, Josh

Hey JoshyMW,

Since we have released preview 5, I would try moving to that build to see if this crash still occurs. I usually do not suggesting moving to the next preview, but some fixes were made that could resolve your issue.

Also keep in mind the preview builds are not meant to be used for official production builds, but for previews of what new features and how the prior versions have been improved.I would suggest using a non-preview build to package your game as they are considered stable versions of the Engine.

Let me know what your outcome is when attempting the new preview :)
