Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

Rendering Order Problem

This is a problem that has been persistent throughout paper2d and our project. I thought we had it fixed, but it's back. The problem becomes worse the further back you move the camera. The outer edges of the stage sprite clips over the character sprites, even though the character sprites are closer to the camera on the Y axis.

The camera is perspective, but the same results with ortho.

Thanks for any suggestions and help with this weird problem.

Are you using masked or translucent materials?

Translucent Lit.

Are you using the Translucent Sort Priority setting?

avatar image The Britain Jan 31 '15 at 09:21 PM

Where is that setting?

Ah, it's on the sprite itself. I will try it and get back.

I was having this same problem in 4.8 and found that I needed to set:

Settings > Project Settings > Engine > Rendering > Translucency > Translucency Sort policy > "Sort Along Axis"

I was having what was probably the same issue as the original post. Changing the Translucency Sort Policy to Sort Along Axis fixed it for me. Thank you so much!

In UE4 4.6 sorting is a bit tricky, the engine sorting is based on distance form the camera it could actually happen that objects that are in front of another are actually getting sorted behind. This is because the sorting is done using the distance from the camera to the object itself. While this is good for 3D it isnt for 2D.

So to fix your issues in versions prior to 4.7 you have two different slution depending on you materials:

  • For transucent materials you can set the Translucent Sort Priority of the sprite coponent

  • For opaque or masked materials you have to offset the physically

In 4.7 you will be able to sort any type of sprites.

Cheers, Moss
