Makehuman Character crashing Unreal

Hello! I have a character that I created in MakeHuman that I am trying to import to Unreal from Blender. So far I have attempted to import in both 4.5 and 4.6 and both have crashed upon import. I know Makehuman has made some changes to their program and how it integrates with Blender that could be causing this, and I will be writing to them about this as well, but I was wondering if anyone knew what could be causing the problem. I would appreciate any information about this. Thank you!

Hi Spiris,

Can you walk me through the steps you are taking when exporting from blender to UE4?

I am exporting from Blender. Spiris is Importing to Unreal.

These are my export settings

Which version of blender and makehuman are you using? I was able to import to UE4 without any crashes when exporting from makehuman to blender to UE4.

Blender version v2.73.5

Makehuman: r1699

If you roll blender back to 2.7 do you still see the same crash? There have been several users reporting various errors with the newer blender builds.

Not sure. I will give it a shot and let you know.

Actually, I’m attempting to export from a Nightly version of Makehuman, so We will see if that works a little better.

The animations work using the nightly build using the UEngine Skeleton, but there is no root motion in the animations. The hip joint in completely fixed in one location. This is not what I want. Is there anything else I can try? I’ve tried just about every other skeleton that was available and none of them will import any animation at all.

I think I’ve found a workaround for this. After posting about this to the MakeHuman Forum, I got the suggestion to export a Collada (dae) file from MakeHuman instead of fbx, and then import it to Blender. From Blender I exported an FBX and was able to get it into Unreal.
