4.7.0 Preview 5 - Everything Broke!

So I updated to Preview 5 and the two projects I had in Preview 4 have had multiple issues.

One project its a 50/50 chance when I click play the editor crashes, doesn’t seem to be any real reason as to why.

In my other project I had object physics and object pickup working just fine, and now both the pickup functionality and the physics (cant push objects by running into them) fail to work at all.

I also no longer see where the defaults for the Game Type exist anymore, in addition to the list of objects for a player mesh don’t seem to be accessible from the list boxes anymore.

Is there anything I can do to work around the physics not working? The crashing I have no idea what’s causing it since this game has worked great since 4.5, through 4.6.1, up to 4.7p4, but if there’s any suggestions on that as well I’d be willing to try anything.

Thanks!

One other thing I forgot to add was audio, there is no longer any editor or game sounds being played, and the unreal engine doesn’t show up in the windows audio mixer.

Hey

Since this is preview, they have mentioned it in their thread, especially considering Preview 5, some breaking known issues. Before upgrading a productive Project, I would consider to read through their Release Thread in the Forum.

Preview 5 contains some important known issues which we wish to call particular attention to:

UE-8819 - Physics actors are failing to Simulate

UE-8887 - Crash in Blueprint Vehicle template in UE4.7

UE-8875 - No audio playback in the editor

UE-8925 - Crash occurred dragging newly converted Blueprint into level

UE-8635 - Sample games are not working once launched onto Android

UE-8873 - Mac Binary missing files for HTML5

UE-8737 - Editor crashes at exit and using drop-downs on Mac

UE-8395 - PList fails to generate on Mac

More known Issues, discussions on it can be found here.

If it works in P4 I would personally remain there or even 4.6.1 and wait until the stable release is out, especially if your project is considered to be productive, if not and your just testing and reporting bugs, don’t let my comments stop you :).

Thanks for taking the time to point that out, definitely appreciated!

I will be checking that out before I update from now on. I reasonably expected that stuff that was working would continue to. Personally I think it’s a bit crazy to release this as a preview with so many critical things broken. But at the same time it was a bad assumption on my part to think everything would continue to work as it did in previous preview builds.

Thanks again.
