Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

Office Holiday

UE4 crashes in Material Editor

Hello, Im new to Unreal Engine 4 and I every time I try to start the material editor the engine crashes, given me the same error every time:

Hey CaptnC00I -

If you would, can you go to the following location and upload the diagnostics.txt, minidump.dmp and [ProjectName].log files as a zip: C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\WER\ReportQueue

Also let me know what version of the editor you are using and whether you are using a Launcher or GitHub version?

In the meantime, after uploading your files, I would try to go to the Launcher and verify your engine version or recompile your engine if using Github.

First sorry for answering so late. I was sick and hadn´t the chance to write. I´m working on a launcher I get from my University. And I also made a Zip archive as you wished and uploaded it. Im really thankfull that you help me and

Hey CaptnC00I -

I'm still going through your logs now, but I wanted to try one quick thing. In Windows Explorer, go to your project folder and delete the following sub directories: Saved, Intermediate and (if there) Derived Data Cache. This will force the engine to recompile all shaders on first opening the engine again so it might take a minute but from what I am seeing, it looks like some corruption has occurred in the Shader directory. By deleting those directories you should have a clean compile of shaders on first opening.

I will continue investigating but please let me know if this solves your issue.

Tried it, but still the same problem. When i open the material editor engine crashes and I have to restart. Thank you very much in advance for your efforts.
