Can't launch shooter demo from Unreal Editor 4.6.1

I was download ShooterGame through launcher.

Create project.

Create VisualStudio project and build it

Open ShooterGame project in Unreal Editor

Build it (With target Development)

Press Launch (not Play in Editor) button

Wait for end of Cooking process

After end of Cooking ShooterGame.exe was launched and I see only black screen and nothing else

In console I see this:

As I understand Game try to connect to Steam (but this not necessary for start, as I think), and after this I see messages about missed fonts in Slate directory. But I can’t find this directory in Project Folder anyway.

What I can/must do to fix this problem?

Hi Dead Knight,

The Steam and Slate warning should not stop Shooter Game from Launching or Packaging. We see the same warnings when it successfully launches in-house.

We reproduced the error that you are seeing but only on one of our machines. I deleted both the Shooter Game project and vault content, then re-downloaded it, and now it Launches fine. Could you try that and let me know what results you get.

Thanks,

TJ

I was try your solution, but hothing changed… Black Screen and nothing (but in PIE mode it works).

Also I test PlatformerGame and VehicleGame and they works fine (but I don’t generate VS solution in this cases (in ShooterGame this also don’t work)).

My comp spec (if needed):

  • CPU: Phenom II X4 965 @ 3.95GHz (overclocked)
  • RAM: 16 Gb
  • Video: Radeon HD7970 GHz Edition.
  • Windows 7 x64 Professional.

I have the same problem too. Is anybody know how to fix this problem ?

Hey guys,

Have you both gone into your ‘Unreal Projects’ folder and your Vault Cache and deleted the ‘ShooterGame’ files completely?

Then re-download and create a new Project entirely.

This fix might need to be assessed by our developers so any extra information on something you guys might be doing specifically would be beneficial towards creating a bug for this issue.

One way to do this would be to test it against another build (4.7.3 perhaps) to see if it occurs there as well. This will establish a controlled variable to test against when our devs are attempting to locate where the error occurs.

Thank you,

Hi, Andrew
Yes, I redownload and recreate ShooterGame yesterday (because I upgrade my system), and after that all works fine.
But maybe this happens because my PC at this moment more powerful than was before.
