Weird shading on my textures

Any chance someone could point me in the right direction? There’s that weird shadowing around the wall edges - they are not overlapping though.

I begin to think I messed up on 3dsmax level, but can’t really figure out what’s up.

Hi Roball,

The lines that you’re seeing are seams from your modular pieces. This is common and can often be corrected by opening Settings > World Settings > Lightmass >

In the Lightmass tab you can adjust the Shadow Quality (Set to 2) and the Shadow Smoothness (Try 0.6) to help “smooth” the shadowing issues that happen between the meshes. This is happening because lighting is baked on different threads for each object.

If this doesn’t resolve your issue have a look at this thread on the forums: Modular Asset Lighting Problem - Rendering - Epic Developer Community Forums

This will cover a lot of areas around modular asset creation and help get rid of seams.

While this is not complete you can also take a look at the start of our Lighting troubleshooting guide on the Wiki: A new, community-hosted Unreal Engine Wiki - Announcements - Epic Developer Community Forums

We are adding to it on a regular basis to help cover some of the common issues that devs run into with lighting their assets and scenes. You can follow progress and see what we have planned here in this forums post.

Feel free to make any suggestions if you have them as well.

Let me know if you have any other questions regarding your modular seams here.
