How do I fix a "Entry Point Not Found" error for the 4.7.0 Preview?

When trying to load the 4.7.0 preview I get the following errors:

.

“The procedure entry point K32GetProcessImageFileNameW could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll.”

and

“Plugin ‘OculusRift’ failed to load because module ‘OculusRift’ could not be loaded. There may be an operating system error or the module may not be properly set up.”

.

The editor then fails to load.

Any help to resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated, and I am willing to provide any information needed.

(I can’t help but notice the ‘32’ in the first error. I am using a 64 bit OS and have been successfully loading the Editer in previous versions, is the preview version only 32 bit?)

Hello ,

I was having this issue on my home computer a few days ago. Could you tell me what OS exactly you are using and provide your dxdiag?

My OS is Window VISTA ULTIMATE 64 bit, Service Pack 2.
I can’t seem to upload my dxdiag here, the attachment popup keeps saying “no such upload”

Which is weird, because I remember posting it in this post

I would refer to that one, but I have installed a new graphics card since then.
(New card is ASUS HD 7770 2GB GDDR5)

Hello ,

After looking over your issue and having had this issue myself at home, I have found that this is due to the operating system that you are using (Vista). The oldest version of windows officially supported is Windows 7 service pack 1. Unfortunately with this being the case, we will not be able to provide further support with this issue. Thank you for your time and information.

My apologies

I can understand that you can’t officially support the OS.
But if you don’t have an answer, marking my problem as having been answered will only inhibit others who can help ‘un-officially’ from doing so.

As an aside:
Do you think this error is only related to the preview, or will be present in the full 4.7.0 release as well?

Hello ,

I would be interested in finding out if upgrading your engine to 4.7.1 has made any difference. If you have any information on this issue it would be great if you could provide us with an update.

Hi Rudy,

Same issue here with Vista Business SP2. I’ve just downloaded the latest build,

I apologize for the delayed response.
The full release of 4.7.1 did not work for me in VISTA, and I have since purchased Windows 7.

Hello zhaoqingMal,

I just wanted to share some information with you. I have found that the versions before 4.7.1 are able to be run on Vista. Such versions would include 4.6.1. I understand this may not be ideal but I hope the information proves useful.

Make it a great day

I am having the same problem, I own Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit, and unfortunately I don’t have Windows 7. How would I go about rolling it back to a previous version that supports my OS?? What issues will this cause? Anything I should know about?
