Import an FBX file with multiple static meshes and not having to reassemble it after import

Hi, I have a building exported from an architectural design package which is built using a lot of static meshes, I’d like to import this and use it as a level, the problem is I need to be able to get data about the individual meshes so selecting “Combine Mesh” won’t work for this as at runtime I have to be able to highlight individual components. Can I import an .fbx with N meshes and just be able to drag them into the level as a group?

In case optimisation is the least of your worries, you could batch export them from your 3d application, make sure all the pivots of the meshes are at 0/0/0.
then after import select all the meshes in the browser and you can basically paste the whole building.
