Best way to achieve decent cave walls look

Hello everyone,

I want to achieve good looking cave walls, here is some examples:

NVIDIA FlameWorks - YouTube - look on the ground

My question is, what is the best way to achieve those results? I tried high res mesh + simple rock materials but the result wasn’t looking great. Currently, I’m trying to use POM but still the results are not so great.

Besides studying rocks (and the example cave in the learning tab) its all in the shaders.
A good roughness map makes all the difference for pbr texturing, a good normal map adds the oomph.
a height map makes it all look more ruggid just as displacement will.

first learn how to sculpt rocks, then how to texture them and set it all up through the pbr workflow into UE4.
then start with caves.

(sadly no time to go in depth on this, I might have more time soon!)

Thank you for your answer. I will try tweak my materials as you said. Here is my current results with start content example materials:
