Sobel Edge post process shadow problem

I am using a Sobel Edge post process material. I have a strange shadow in in my level that stays a fixed distance away from the camera. If I move forward, the shadow retreats. Changing the thickness of the edge does effect the shadow distance somewhat, but I cant get rid of it entirely. Any ideas?


EDIT: For anyone who comes across this in the future, the MaxDistance of the Sobel Edge post-process material was too close to the player, hence the effect. We made sure the MaxDistance was large enough to encompass the whole level and the shadow disappeared.

Default value was about 40,000, we had to increase it to 3,000,000
