Html5 and media framework

Hi everyone !

I have a question concerning html5 packaging with videos, when I package on windows format I can see the video playing in my scene but when it’s exported in html5 I only see black. What should I do?
I tried to change the “from URL” into “from Memory” but the editor keep crashing.

Thanks in advance

Hi Denis,

Sadly, Video playback isn’t supported yet in HTML5. I’m not sure exactly when it’s due to be done but it’s definitely on the TODO list. Video playback is something HTML5 can do well so it’d be silly for us to not add support for it.

Hi Jojo !
Ok thanks for your answer is there something else I can do to replace it (As I need this feature for a client)? I thought about flipbook but the video is way to long for that.

And when I tried to put an URL from my ftp to play the video the engine crashed.

I can’t offer any alternatives, sorry. I don’t know all the ins and outs of UE4 so there may still be something else you can use, it’s just that I’m unaware of it… Hopefully, someone else can help.

As for the video crash, I’d suggest you try raising a separate bug about it.

Hey, I’ve been working with the same issues, and I’m thinking the only true way to get the results we want may be to do a flipbook texture. I have yet to test if they’ll work in HTML5, but this might be our solution. I’ve heard of a program called GlueIt (http://www.varcade.com/blog/glueit-sprite-sheet-maker-download/). Hopefully this helps. I’ll be testing it out as soon as I get home.

Has this feature been implemented yet?

Same here I am interested to know if Media framework work in html 5 ?
