Make Epic Games Launcher finds the compiled unreal engine

Well I have Unreal Engine but It’s compiled from the source code and Epic Games Launcher tells that there is no engine installed, Do I need to download Unreal Engine from Epic Games Launcher or is it possible to make the launcher find the compiled unreal engine?

Hi NinjaKillah,

The Launcher doesn’t recognize the source builds of the engine, only the binary versions downloaded directly from it. This is something that we are looking into, so you may see this change later on.

Cheers,

TJ

Is there any update on this feature? It would be nice to have a custom built engine into the launcher.

Hi mcleary,

This is still something that is being investigated by the Launcher team but no news as of yet.

I have the same problem, in Windows 10 64-bit on a

Any updates?

No I can’t find anything to help me add the compiled unreal engine to epic games launcher

Hey cryolithic and NinjaKillah,

I know that this was something on the radar at one time but I haven’t heard much about it in a while. I’m looking into it now and I’ll see if I can find out the status.

If Epic Games can add it to epic games launcher it will be a good feature

I spoke with the Launcher team and this feature is still on our wishlist but it will probably be a while before we have time to implement it.

Got tons of stuff in my library that I can’t add to a project now, and I only needed to compile the engine for a custom plugin. So yeah… Any news then?

Or rather, plugins that I can’t add, such as Substance and Le Extended Library heh.

YES this would make things a ton easyer for those of us wanting to use addons in our source builds like say VaREST?

2019, still same problem. any solutions?

Or make Nvidia Gameworks, Waveworks etc plugins )

Any news? I desperately need this feature, because I need to use waveworks and that prevents me from using any other plugin. Major handicap.

UE4 is the best tool ever btw so I’m still smiling greatfully

I really need this feature – simply to add plugins to the Oculus branch of UE4.

Hey, everyone.
So, are there news on that issue ?

Also I’ve tried to define it manually in LauncherInstalled.dat, etc.
But that way doesn’t work :frowning:

Bump. Any update on this in 2022?
