Unreal editor crashes after loading with oculus rift plugged in

Hello,

When I launch the editor, it loads to 100%, then crashes. Unplugging my oculus rift worked, but I want to use it in my projects. Any ideas how to solve this?

thanks.

Hello Ixaeon,

I have a few questions for you that will help narrow down what issue it is you are experiencing.

Quick questions:

  1. Are you receiving any errors?
  2. If so, could you provide them?
  3. Do you have the latest Oculus Runtime 0.4.4?
  4. Could you provide your dxdiag
  5. Could you provide you crash logs?
  6. Does using the oculus in extend mode make a difference?

Hello Rudy,

I’m getting a crash screen when the loading screen has reached 100%. The error i’m getting is Access violation - code c0000005 (first/second chance not available) (I guess that’s what you mean by error?).

my dxdiag and crash log are added to the question.

I’ll get back to you about question 3 and 6 as I’m not at work right now.

Hello Ixaeon,

Please let me know when you get a chance to get the information from questoins 3 and 6. I believe one or both of these questions will help me narrow things way down.

Hello Rudy,

yes my Runtime version is 0.4.4 and yes, if I use the oculus in extend mode I am able to launch unreal engine and load my project

I suppose it crashes because i’m on a laptop with both nvidia and intel graphics cards. two guys in the comments on are having the same problem

Hello Ixaeon,

I have been trying to reproduce this on a few different machines and I am still unable to reproduce this crash on our end. I have spoke with a developer about the issue and I have found that it is a known issue that is currently under investigation. I would like to pool our knowledge to further narrow down the specifics of this issue. So to this effect I would like to collapse the threads by redirecting further comments to the original post (the link that you provided above).

Post here please:

On my machine I got this. Updating the NVIDIA drivers solved it.

Hello everyone. (Sorry for my english, i´m spanish).

I had the same problem and the solution I found (at least for me).

1. Approach ** C: \ Program Files \ Epic Games \ 4.7 \ Engine \ Binaries \ Win64 ** and establish compatible with Windows 7 in the executable UE4Editor.exe

2. Ensure that UE4Editor.exe running with high performance processor (NVIDIA Control panel).

THAT’S ALL¡¡¡ After making thousand tests and read thousand forums only that is worked¡¡¡

My Computer:

ASUS G750JY

i7-4710-HQ.

16GB RAM.

512 SSD + 1TB HDD

NVIDIA 980m 8GB GDDR 5.

Windows 8.1.

Ok, gracias. Proberamos este solution. Encontramos que una moda de dual screen (una screen entre dos monitors) puede causar el Oculus lockup.

Ok, thanks. We will try this solution. We found that setting a dual screen mode (one screen across two monitors) causes te Oculus to lockup.
