I’ve set up a map super quick to check out the new foliage rendering. And I’ve noticed that there’s some really heaving ghosting on the foliage.
I know this is ultimately caused by TXAA, as it stops when I switch to FXAA (although that leaves the grass looking very noisy). Is this just me? Or is it a byproduct of the way foliage is being rendered in 4.7?
To clarify, the grass isn’t using the new foliage shader.
It’s just a limitation of Temporal AA at the moment. It’s fast and makes edges very clean, but it produces ghosting, especially on foliage.
You could use downsampling instead of FXAA, it’s the best method to get good looking edges and does not produce ghosting, but its very expensive. You can enable it with the console command r.ScreenPercentage 200
