Moving Engine and Project folders to another drive

Hi,

My C drive is getting full, so I want to move the Engine (4.6, 4.7) and Project folders to my second drive. What is the best way to do this other than reinstall everything?

Thanks.

Hi, Platypus. These steps worked for me in this order.

Moving Projects

  1. • Close Epic Games Launcher.

  2. • Copy C:\Users\[name]\Documents\Unity Projects to D:\UnrealEngine\Unreal Projects.

  3. • Open Epic Games Launcher.

  4. • My Projects will have disappeared.

  5. • Navigate to D:\Unity Projects.

  6. • Double-click on each Project (.uproject).

  7. • The project will be loaded and then appear in the list of My Projects in Epic Games Launcher.

  8. • Close Project.

  9. • Delete/archive C:\Users\[name]\Documents\Unity Projects when your projects are verified working.

Moving Engine on Windows 8.1

  1. • Copy C:\Program Files\Epic Games to D:\Epic Games (21+ GB)

  2. • Right click on Epic Games Launcher in Start Menu > Open File Location.

  3. • Right click on Epic Games Launcher program and click on Properties.

  4. • Change Target from

    “C:\Program Files\Epic Games\Launcher\Engine\Binaries\Win64\EpicGamesLauncher.exe”
    To
    “D:\Epic Games\Launcher\Engine\Binaries\Win64\EpicGamesLauncher.exe”
  5. • Change Start in from

    “C:/Program Files/Epic Games/Launcher/Engine/Binaries/Win64/”
    To
    “D:/Epic Games/Launcher/Engine/Binaries/Win64/”
  6. • Open Epic Games Launcher.

  7. • Does a check for update.

  8. • Message: Project files not associated

  9. ○ uproject files are not associated with this Launcher. Would you like to associate them now?

  10. ○ Choose Fix Now.

  11. ○ User Asset Controller window may appear. Choose Continue.

  12. • Close Epic Games Launcher.
  13. • Restart your computer.
  14. • Open Epic Games Launcher.
  15. • Under Unreal Engine tab, click on Repair for your UE version.
  16. ○ Click on it until Queued.

  17. ○ It'll then say Verifying.

  18. • Good to go!

Downloading from Marketplace

  1. • Click on Free/Buy button then the Download button.
  2. • Files are downloaded to new D:\Epic Games\Launcher\VaultCache

Hi Jefreestyles, I followed all of the instructions as you said, but I’m stuck on the last step where I click ‘Repair’, instead of repairing it, it just pops up and says
"Unable to install

Could not create directory: C:/Program Files/Epic Games/4.8"
Is there any way to fix this?
