4.7.2 not saving layouts and perforce connection

So i downloaded 4.7.2 and I noticed its not saving the layouts every time I close the engine and reopen. Also I have to reconnect to perforce every time I reopen the engine. I have hit save layout but it seems not to save the settings. The engine acts like its starting up for the first time every time I open up the editor. I was just wondering if this is a bug or a new setup or check box I am missing?

thanks

Hello dragonfly2,

In order to determine whether this is an issue with the Editor or with you being connected to Perforce pertaining to the layout, would you mind testing something for me on your end?

Steps to Follow

  1. Create a new Blank First Person, or Third Person BP project and move around a couple of the windows and tabs.
  2. Once you have a different looking layout than the default, choose the ‘Save Layout’ option.
  3. Next ‘Save All’ and close the project.
  4. Re-open the Project and check to see if your layout was saved.

If it was saved, then we can assume the issue is with your project or being connect to Source control. One possible option would be to follow the same steps and check out the changes and add them to your main build within source. My guess is that whoever has the main build is setting the layout options as well.

Let me know what you discover and if you have any further questions.

Thank you,

So I was able to figure out how to fix it.

I took your advise and tested out creating a new dummy project like you said, and my layouts saved and I was able to maintain my connection to perforce. So it was something in the project folder that was causing the issue.

I went into the saved folder and intermediate folder and cleared out the catch files, logs and ini files. Then I reopened the project and let unreal regenerate all those files, after that I was able to re save my layout setting and maintain my connection to perforce.

I believe one of those files got corrupted when I patched from 7.1 to 7.2. and it kept me from updating my setting.

Thanks for the help I was glad to know that it was the project and not the engine. witch was easier to fix

You are welcome
