Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

Geometry Alignment keeps Resetting

Every time I apply a material to a brush and align it to fit than build it resets the alignment!

Hey Polemos,

What version of the Editor are you on? The reason I am asking is because I am not able to reproduce the issue you're describing. Could you please respond back to this thread with additional details on what you're doing to get the alignment to reset?

I am using 4.7.2 but this has been happening in all the 4.7 previews and all the 4.7 releases...

Thanks for letting me know that you're on the newest release of 4.7. Could you please list out the steps that you're taking to get the alignment to reset? Each time I place the material, change the alignment and build, the material stays as it's suppose to. So I'd like to know what I'm doing differently than you.

Ah Ha I nailed the bug for you trying to get the exact steps down, So here we go - in the modes Panel select BSP -> box Drag and drop box into the level select a face Apply a material to that face THIS DOES MATTER The material has to consist of a Texture Sample and its blend Mode has to be opaque for some reason this does not happen with other blend modes Select alignment fit & build this should reset the Alignment exposing the bug if it does not rescale the box this will definitely expose the bug and I think that the rescaling / resetting based on rescaling bug is actually an already know issue

i have the same problem and it's very annoying in the lastest version 4.7.3 . Wall on the left reseted the alignment without a touch . alt text

yea I thought they fixed it in this version but no it is even worse because it is now happening on static meshes as well originally I was only seeing it on BSPs I could really use a hotfix on this it is a huge bottleneck for mt team

Thank you so far it looks resolved in the latest release!

Side note I really need support on this issue - https://answers.unrealengine.com/questions/168597/chroma-keying-technique-with-a-material.html I am a former lead designer @ activision if you can get me support I will owe you one guys at epic one an will make sure everyone knows what kind of support you give to you developers.

This bug s back I press align on brushes and nothing happens anymore in 4.8

Thank you for the report. We have this bug reported as UE-17038 and looks to be fixed internally and will be pushed out with an upcoming major engine release.
