I want to buy the prototype characters from the market place and i was wondering if i can export said characters the blender for animation

I am brand new to unreal engine and i was wondering if can export these characters to blender so i can create my own animations.

I’m not very familliar with Blender possibilities but you can export the prototype characters from the engine as .fbx files. Most DCC packages support this format.

blender can easily handle fbx files, so exporting them out as fbx and opening up in blender should work fine.

Doesn’t work for me when I export the animation with the mesh, 3ds max 2015 crashes.

In editor…
1.Pick your animation
2.Left click and choose “Asset Actions” >>>>Export>>>Choose .fbx format.

This way you get your animation out of the unreal as fbx file and blender can easily open up fbx files, i belive so does 3ds max.

I know, I want the mesh with it, not the animations.

Have you tried opening up the mesh in another 3d program? Maybe the 3ds max is the problem here…
