Station light on movable/destructible objects

Hi,

I have a Station directional light for my scene, but it does not lit the movable/destructible objects correctly. I baked the lightmap in Production mode.
All the movable/or/physic objects are brightly lit compared to the rest.

Is that an error? I am sure I did all the light setting correcly.

Thank you to tell me if it is a current issue or if I am doing something wrong.

cheers

Hi ,

I’ve actually seen several people post this before and it’s actually on my list to investigate and get on the Wiki Lighting Troubleshooting and Tips guide. I’ve not personally come across this error though.

Can you tell me a little bit more about your scene:

  • Are you using a Lightmass Importance Volume?
  • Can you post a screen shot of your Lighting Volume Samples (Must Use a Lightmass Importance Volume around your scene. Viewport > Show > Vizualize > volume Lighting Samples)
  • Does this happen with any of the assets used from the starter content vs the custom assets created?

Thanks!

Hi Tim,

yes there is a LightmassImportanceVolume (200 by 200 by 200) around my room.
Here I post the Lighting samples, I can only see 4 sample inside the room. The others are outside the room , even outside the LightmassImportanceVolume .

Hi again,

I also added a table and chair from the Starten content pack and they looked ok.

After deleting them and rebaking the light, it was better (not as bright). Nothing else changed.

I also have problem with my Detail Lighting mode, which does not work at the moment (it did before). I don’t know if it is related.

cheers

I think I found the culprit. My floor is set to movable and has vertex paint on it to switch between 2 materials. I found a topic :frowning:Detailed Lighting Buffer plus others not working - Rendering - Epic Developer Community Forums) that mentioned that the lighting has issue with vertex painted meshes for the Detail Light mode. When I set the floor to static (and loose the benefit of my 2 blended material) then it all bake alright. I don’t know why this affect the other objects and not just the floor. But that must be it.
