Change Storage Drive of Epic Games Launcher

Okay, this isn’t 100% related to UE4 but I thought this was the only place I could post it, and I’m trying to install UE4 so it kinda counts. Anyway in Epic Games Launcher it never asked me where I wanted to install, my C drive is just a low-space SSD and it’s trying to install UE4 there and of course, it won’t let me since the drive is full. How do I make it install UE4 somewhere else like the E or G drive? I don’t see any settings anywhere.

Hi ronanzer0,

The Engine and Vault content will be downloaded to the same drive as the Launcher. To install them on another drive you will need to uninstall the Launcher and re-install it on whichever drive you want all of the content to be on.

Cheers,

TJ

The problem is that the Derived Data Cache folder still installs in the AppData folder on the C: drive, but there’s a fix here under the Shader Cache section. Just have to edit your project’s engine.ini to write the DDC to the project folder instead of the Common folder.

I created a symbolic link from my program files folder to my ssd named “Epic Games” and copied all the unreal engine files into it. Here’s a guide for you to follow:
