4.7.2 - Sound doesn't attenuates if bSpatialize is turned OFF :(

Hi.

I’ve noticed that if you turn Spatialize OFF the AmbientSound stops attenuating.
I’m interested in keep the sound attenuating but “just” on a basic distance check from character, now it’s also considering character rotation because the Spatialize thing or simply ignoring attenuation if I disable it.

Thanks

I’ve checked the sound settings, and it’s not a channel trouble (unless Unreal is not detecting 2 channels)

I’ve tested this out and I wonder if you might be running into problems by using a stereo sound? We currently only allow mono sounds to be spatialized and attenuated. I tried a stereo sound first and had the same problem but when using a mono sound, I found that I could reduce its volume as I moved away but that it didn’t appear to originate from a particular location. Another point of confusion is that in the AmbientSound’s details I had to tick Allow Spatialization but untick Spatialize for this to work, without Allow Spatialization there is no change in volume at all.

Thank you Matthew, the “use mono” plus some overrides on my Controller gave me exactly the attenuation I was looking for.

Cheers!
