Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

Shadows from very small meshes, very close to the floor

Hello, I've been playing around with lighting for a while today and I noticed that apparently there's a limit to how close a mesh can be to something and still have it produce a shadow on it (from a Movable light). Is this really the case? Seems like this would be a problem if someone wanted to make a really small object and zoom in on it, as it would have no shadow.

With ray traced shadows it looks like the shadow disappears if the distance is smaller than 1uu (more or less). I don't know if it's the same for regular shadows because they've already faded out at this distance.

Is there a way to change this? I want to make a scene where the camera is really close to a very small object on the floor, but it looks weird because it has no shadow.

Thanks in advance!

Try using a higher resolution distance field.
