Hot reload of Details Customization doesn't work in editor?

I’m building some details customization objects, and according to these hideously out of date docs, recompiling and reloading the DetailCustomizations module should allow me to quickly iterate my work.

It doesn’t work, at all. Is it still supposed to?

I’m on the head of master, as of 3/15/2015.

Still does not appear to function in 4.11. Neither recompiling nor reloading the module in the Module panel updates the detail customizations in the editor. Editor must be closed and reopened
