D drive disappears when i try to install UE4

Before the question I’m not living in english speaking country.
So my english is not good. I’m sorry about my english.

I tried to install UE4 on D drive.
It was about to finish installation and launcher crashed.
So i tried to execute the launcher again it said that couldn’t find the diretory.
I execute my computer and i couldn’t find D drive.
So i reset the drive settings and tried installation again.
But nothing changed.

Hi GGS,

Can you post a copy of your dxdiag here? To get it:

  1. Open Start Window
  2. Find and Open Command Prompt
  3. Type dxdiag, press Enter
  4. Press “Save All Information”
  5. Upload file here

Thank you!

Here is my dxdiag information.
Thank you for helping me.

Do other programs that you install see your D: drive?

I think D: drive’s link was disconnected from my computer.
After install UE4, I can see only C: Drive.
So I go to my computer(right click)->Computer Management->storage->re check disk.
and I can see D drive again.
Everytime i install UE4 D: drive link missing.
D drive’s files are fine but just missing link.

When I reset my disks I can show my files.I can execute my files. Everything is fine. But when I install UE4, D: drive’s link disappears.
I can’t reach D: drive. I cant see D: drive on ‘my computer’ .Of course, Epic Games Launcher link is disconnected because I installed that launcher on my D: drive.
And I have to reset my disks through computer management.
again and again and again.

Actually this is notebook and i bought this last week. I think there is no problem with my notebook.
Thanks.

Is it possible that the cable connecting your harddrive to your motherboard became damaged or disconnected? Can you manually enter the D: drive and have it recognized in the browser menu? For instance, if you go to install and when it asks for the directory:

  1. Go to browse
  2. Type D:\
  3. Press Enter

Does anything appear at that point?

Hi there ,

I just saw your problem , maybe it’s different but I had this problem because of my power supply. Electrical problem, smoke etc look your power supply connections (PC ON) …I swtiched to Corsair CX , now my problem is solved.

Hope will help you.

Hi GGS,

Unfortunately we have not been able to reproduce this on our end. We’ve tried multiple localizations and hardware setups to see what could be the problem but this looks to be exclusive to your laptop. It may be a good idea to take it in to get checked out and see if there is a problem with your D: drive or connection. I am marking this as answered for tracking purposes.

Same here with UE5 and 5.1
