Installing Unreal on a different HD on Mac

Hey, seen a couple of posts on this, still have no luck. Any update on installer functionality for installing to different drive on Mac, TY.

Hi Williamian,

I’m not sure I understand your issue. Are you referring to Unreal Engine or Unreal Tournament? We are not aware of any issues installing to a different hard drive for Mac.

Sorry, yes, I am referring to Unreal engine, when I try to install to my SSD C: drive I do not have enough space, the installer gives no options to install to another drive. TY.

I’m still a little confused. Mac computers don’t have a C drive. You should be able to drag and drop the launcher app anywhere including other drives during the installation process (not just the applications folder)

Yes, I know a Mac’s main drive is not called C:, ha. I download launcher, run it, when it asks me to put Unreal into app folder I move it to the new drive instead and keep getting “Epic Games Launcher.app” is damaged and can’t be opened. You should move it to the Trash. on launch, Works fine on main drive??? There are several threads here regarding this, so I am surprised you have not seen them, I have gone through them with no luck.

Ok so just to make sure I’m on the same page with you here; you’re able to install the Epic Games Launcher just fine, you’re just wanting to install the Unreal Engine itself to another drive? If this is indeed that case, this is the intended and there are no plans in the near future for choosing the install path for an engine.

Yep, that is my exact issue, not enough space on my main HD and cannot make more. I though I read in post they were considering adding the ability to install to any drive with the launcher, but you say it is confirmed it is not going to happen?

It’s not a feature that is currently high priority. That’s not to say we will or won’t do it but for the foreseeable future, this is not something we plan on implementing soon.

Ty. Will keep my eye out.
