Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

artifacts on material

So I've got my model, it's rigged, the materials are mostly done. But when it moves, there's this strange shimmer on a piece of it with a kevlar pattern. alt text

It couldn't be captured, so I'm wondering if it;s some sort of optical illusion, or an issue with the normals, or just plain old aliasing? It only shows in the final image and roughness buffer.

Hey N67nightmare -

I suspect the answer is no, but can the flicker be seen when doing a video capture? It would also be helpful for you to highlight where on the photos above you are seeing the shimmer itself.

As an educated guess based on your descriptions above , I would suggest looking at the roughness values around the edge of your kevlar and see if you have any places that may have a value over 1.

Thank You

Hi, thank you for the reply. I tried launching the game instead of just simulating in editor, which seemed to remove the effect. It appears to just be a glitch in the editor rendering. Thank you for your time.

In your modeling software your model has overlapped surfaces (almost in tha same xyz space) that is why you get those flickers
