Error Running Launcher (0xc000007b)

Hello forums,
this is my first post in this forum and first off, If I’m in the wrong section please tell me.
So I’ve read already a lot threads about it which really didn’t help much to begin with, so it’s not like im too lazy to search but I couldn’t figure it out by myself.

I’m trying to install UE4 on my Windows 8.1 x64 Laptop and began with the Launcher… Thats where the error first appeared ( a picture below ). After this I tried installing the DirectXRedist, which succeeded but the launcher still showing this error. Then I searched for this error and found a pretty promising solution by the user “0xDEADBEEF”… first I directly did the rename & reinstall thing which also didnt help…
Now I’ve completely given up and created a log using “Dependency Walker” since it already took me like 4 hours and I’ve come nowhere.

Sorry you are having this issue. I’m still not sure what the problem is but these two lines in your log do look suspicious:

GetProcAddress(0x00007FFFCB0A0000 [KERNEL32.DLL], "GetFileInformationByHandleExW") called from "VSPERF120.DLL" at address 0x00007FFFAC4880EC and returned NULL. Error: Die angegebene Prozedur wurde nicht gefunden (127).
GetProcAddress(0x00007FFFCB0A0000 [KERNEL32.DLL], "SetFileInformationByHandleW") called from "VSPERF120.DLL" at address 0x00007FFFAC48810A and returned NULL. Error: Die angegebene Prozedur wurde nicht gefunden (127).

I’m not exactly sure what the dll is but it appears to be associated with Visual Studio 2013. One thing you could try is to download the VS 2013 redist and install/repair. Once you run the repair, restart and then try the launcher/engine again. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40784

If that does not work, perhaps try renaming that dll and run the repair again. If a new dll is created, try running the engine again. If a new DLL is not created, restore the one you renamed.

Hi, and Thanks for the quick answer,
I did as you said but the VS 2013 Redist pack didn’t recreate the DLL after I renamed it.
But even if the DLL was missing the Exception didnt change at all like “DLL xyz was not found” or something…

Any other ideas ?

Sorry, no ideas at the moment. We will have to investigate your logs further.
