No left or right movement

Hey ,

Have you made any changes in your project since this error started occurring? If not, could you please send me at least a screenshot of your movement blueprints? Did you base your project off of any of our templates? Are the inputs working correctly on a newly created template?

Looking forward to assisting you further.

Hi,
Suddenly UE4 decided to ignore any left/right movement. All other input are fine. I checked the input settings and they are untouched. It’s weird that it stopped suddenly.
Any suggestions?

Thank you for your quick response.
It’s based on the side scroller. And no I haven’t done any changes at all. I was working on the animBP trying to get the retargeting to work but suddenly the character stopped moving left and right. Apart from that it was working just fine couple of seconds before this happens.

I just tested to replace my character with the original sidescrollerpawn and it worked. But when I compare the two BP there is no difference

I just found out that speed is not updating while standing but it does update when I’m crouching!!

Hey ,

I’m glad that you’ve been able to fix the situation by replacing the file you were using. However, if you still have that specific blueprint available, would you mind sending that to me? I’d really like to see if I can find some type of difference between the two.

Cheers!

I didn’t fix it. I just tested the original one temporary. I still want to fix the character I worked on for months. Not sure how to send it over to you. I wouldn’t want to share it in public here

I’ve found the problem. In the AnimBP under the preview window there’s a tab “Edit Defaults” . At the bottom there’s a drop down menu. I had it on Root motion from everything (following a for the Animset Pro from the market place tutorial he said it’s best to have it on that option). Once I changed it to Root Motion from Montage Only everything is back to normal, for now. I am now investigating what are the side effects when I change that option.

Hey Raed,

Sorry for misunderstanding your post earlier. In the future, if you want or need to send us anything, you’re more than welcome to upload it to something such as and send a PM on the forums to whoever is helping you. Then it will not be publicly accessible.

I’m glad to see that you’ve found the problem within your blueprint. It’s completely possible that the root motion caused this issue you were experiencing. I’ll look into it a bit, and make sure there isn’t any bug involved.

If you have any further questions, feel free to update this thread, or create a new one (if it’s a different topic).
