Can you enable multiple GPU use in Unreal Engine 4 Editor? (Nvidia SLI support)

How to enable multiple GPU use in UE4 editor ? On a single card performance is good but in a heavy scene it couldve been better if editor could use multiple GPUs.

I can’t get a benefit from sli. I can force it through investigator but no benefit. Here is hoping.

I’ve tested DX11 SLI bits in a current geforce driver (335.23) and a few of them showed good scaling but with some ugly ghosting artifact:
0x000010F5
0x000011F1
0x000040F5
0x000115FD
0x000240F5
0x00A010F5 (not full scaling)
0x020040F5
0x080010F5
0x080116F5
0x080140F5
0x0A0040F5
0x0A0140F5
0x100010F5

I would also like to know if anyone has a good SLI profile or if we could expect some official support for SLI users.

I’ve tried all the existing DX11 SLI bits from driver version 337.50 and there’s nothing that actually increases performance. I came across three different scenarios by trying all the different bits:

  • SLI works, but worse performance, improper scaling
  • SLI works, but ghosting artifacts and worse performance
  • SLI doesn’t work, and worse performance

A scenario where “SLI works” just means that it uses my 2nd GPU, but it doesn’t actually improve performance, keep that in mind. So I’ve opted to not enable SLI for the Unreal 4 Editor at this moment. One tweak I applied was to enable the Frame Rate Limiter (also found in NVidia Inspector) so that the GPU while the editor is in full screen isn’t being used 95%-99% all the time (resulting in loud fan noise).
