Maya ART Tool Rigging Bugs

I try to paint skin weights on the rig, and it only paints to white. It also doesn’t paint to any bones. The list of bones show up in the toolset panel, but I can’t pick a bone to paint on and the system shows this error every time I pick a bone to paint:

Error: RuntimeError: file C:/Program Files/Unreal Engine/4.0/Engine/Extras/Maya_AnimationRiggingTools/MayaTools/General/Scripts\ART_skeletonBuilder_UI.py line 19457: Error occurred during execution of MEL script
file: C:/Program Files/Autodesk/Maya2014/scripts/others/artAttrSkinCallback.mel line 119: artAttrSkinPaintCtx: Object ‘moveSuperContext’ not found.

Also, smooth bind doesn’t give me any painted weights to begin with. Weird bugs.

hey there!

Which version of maya are you using? (year and type, for example 2013 student)

I’ve put up a master thread here that will detail any recent fixes and known issues.

ART Master Thread

This is the first I’ve heard of anyone having this particular issue. If the latest code drop from the master thread doesn’t fix your issues, kindly post a file so I can take a look.

Thanks!

Sorry! I found this e-mail recently and just got to the project. Yes, I am still having this problem. I am using the student version of Maya 2014, 64-bit. I am able to go through the process to the point of binding the skeleton to the mesh, then that’s where things go haywire. I tried many times using different methods to get this to work.

This post on the master thread has a fix:
