Help with Editor Camera

After upgrading to 4.7.3 the camera rotates down and is locked in this position in the editor. I have tried locking on to objects and unlocking as well as using the Alt+mouse controls but the camera always returns to facing down. This occurs in every map, level and project I open. However, in game mode the camera works as expected. Any suggestions?

Thanks
JT

Hey Jtillotson,

Are you simply dragging a camera from ‘Modes’ onto your project? I’m currently on 4.7.4 and I do not see the camera pointing downwards, or resetting to that resting position.

Please provide as many details as possible. Thank you!

Hi ,
I have not inserted or dragged anything new. I simply open unreal 4.7.3 in any project, new or old, including the example projects provided by epic, and the camera immediately rotates to face the ground and rests there. When I use the mouse controls to look around it returns to the down position as soon as I the mouse stops moving.

The camera functions as expected in game mode.

The issue began shortly after updating to 4.7.3. I just updated to 4.7.4 and the issue still persists.

Thank you for your time and patience.

After further poking I have found that only the perspective view in viewport 1 behaves in this manner. If I open viewport 2 the cameras resting y rotation is 0 and not -90. Is there a way to edit the properties of the viewports?

JT

Hey JT,

Have you looked within the Editor Preferences? You can get to this by going to: Edit > Editor Preferences > Level Editor ‘Viewports’. There, you can edit some of the settings within the viewport. However, I do not see a way to change the y rotation within those settings however, there are a few different options for camera control.

Thanks!
