Seamless audio looping no longer working correctly?

When I import a seamless looping audio file (48k/16bit stereo) there is an almost “banging” sound as it reaches the loop point. This “banging” sound is not heard until it’s been imported into the engine and loops seamlessly (with no “banging sound”) outside of the engine. This has not happened in any other version of the Engine that I’m aware of. I’m using version 4.7.2

Is anyone else experiencing this or know when a fix will be in?

Thanks,

Hello Craft_Media_Group,

Would you be able to provide me with the sound asset you are using so I can reproduce this issue on my end? I usually do not ask for a specific asset as the first troubleshooting step, but this seems like it could be project/asset specific.

Also, how are you implementing your sound to play and loop?

We did just release a hotfix earlier today 4.7.4, so you could try updating to that version of the engine to see if the issue is resolved there. One suggestion I have is changing the sample rate of your sound file like 41k instead.

Thank you,

Hey Andrew, thanks for your quick reply. I’ve confirmed that this does NOT happen when importing a 44.1 .wav file however it DOES happen when importing a 48k .wav file.
I tried to attach the.wav file but it fails and the upload returns “no such upload”.
I’ve imported the .wav using the “Import” button in Unreal. The “banging” using the 48k .wav is heard while auditioning playback on both the .wav and sound cue level. I’ve attached the sound cue set up. I’ve marked the uasset .wav file as “looping”.

Hey Craft_Media_Group,

You are welcome, and AnswerHub has issues with attaching images sometimes. All you have to do is to keep trying to attach the image or file until it works. I was also told, if you get this error message and spam the okay button, it will work as well. We are working to communicate with the owners of AnswerHub to improve upon this.

If you are not hearing the banging sound when using the 44.1k sample rate, I would stick with that version. Once you get he sound file to upload, I can test the asset. Instead of the sound file itself you can give me the uasset from your content folder, since they are rather large naturally, and you have a limit to 5.2 MB when attaching images and files to the AnswerHub.

Cheers,
