Can anyone recommend hardware upgrades?

link textThis isn’t exactly a ‘problem’ as such but I was hoping that perhaps someone more knowledgeable than I could offer advice. I believe my ram and gfx card don’t quite cut it for using UE4 to it’s fullest potential. My specs are: Intel i5-2500 Quad Core @3.3GHz, 4GB RAM, AMD Radeon HD 6850, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.

Problem is I really don’t know so much about gfx cards these days and there are so many options out there - can anyone recommend a new graphics cards that will perform better than what I have and not cost too much? I get pretty low fps and screen tearing, even in the little test levels with a number of settings tuned down. Will getting another 4GB RAM make a big difference too?

MuchToLearn made some pretty good suggestions here:

And yeah, another 4GB ram will make a difference.

I am having good luck with the nVidia GTX 750 Ti. It is a relatively cheaper card at $150 and my framerates are 60 to 120fps. It is a good upgrade option for an older computer because it only uses 60 watts power and doesn’t need extra power cables, it just plugs into the board and is a small card.

I think if you bumped your ram up to 8 and go the 750 Ti it would make a big difference. Of course, the more you spend them more powerful system you’d have but replacing the whole computer might be a better option if you were going to get a top end card so it would be a balanced system.

I’m not sure you’ll get the same framerates, I have 16gig ram, and an AMD 8-core cpu at 3.8 Ghz.
