UE4 freezing my PC

Hello,
So i’m having trouble with UE4.
I fired up the launcher this morning only to see that my projects weren’t listed and I apparently had no engine installation. Not sure if this is normal behavior when there’s a new update.
So I tried to download the new version and it went pretty smoothly until it got stuck at installing for about an hour. I relaunched the launcher and it got stuck at verifying for some time but it did finish eventually.

So I went to my project folder and launched the project, midway through windows just displayed a grey screen while my pc fans immediately went full speed! (not sure which fans exactly)
I restarted my pc and reopened my level and it was working fine so I started working on it. Specifically was trying to get the Dynamic Global Illumination working. (Just found out about it, cool stuff)

While using Chrome with Unreal in the background I opened a youtube video when suddenly I got a cyan screen while my fans started screaming again.
(Not sure if the video had anything to do with it)
I restarted again and haven’t opened it since.

Can someone tell me what’s going on? If I need to upload any log files just tell me.

Hi Kristusea,

Could you post a copy of your dxdiag (system specs) for us?

Windows: Go to the Start menu and type ‘dxdiag’ into the search bar. Open that file and then click ‘Save All Information’. Post that text file here.

Mac: Go to the Apple menu and click ‘About This Mac’.

Here you go

You said,

Before this you had a version of the engine installed and working properly? Which version and how long had you been using it?

I am not sure which one specifically but it was 4.7.X
I had been using it since it came out.
That’s no longer an issue though, my current issue is the freezing. I can not open the engine without it freezing my pc.
Sorry for the late reply.

Yeah, any Log or Dmp files would be helpful. You can find info on where to find them here.

Do you have any unnecessary programs running in the background. Especially anything graphics or performance related? Try closing them and then run the editor.

Nope, nothing in the background.
Here are the latest Log files, no new Dmp files were created since the old working build.

Alright, I may have solved the issue.
I just uninstalled and reinstalled the engine (the downloading/installing/verifying went quick and smooth) and well, 30 minutes in, no crashes!
Guess files got corrupt when the first download went bad.
