Can't download Unreal Engine. Error Code: 1

I downloaded launcher MSI file (90 MB) and when try to download Unreal Engine.
I get error code: 1.
I tried many times. Checked with task manager that launcher is downloading something or not. But no internet activity.
Please help me.

Update: Problem was solved after few hours. Maybe server problem. So new comers, maybe you should wait. Or maybe there is really problem.

Just to clarify, you downloaded the installer but are having issues installing the Launcher? Or have you installed the Launcher but can’t download an Engine Version?

Also, please post your dxdiag (system specs).

Windows: Go to the Start menu and type ‘dxdiag’ into the search bar. Open that file and then click ‘Save All Information’. Post that text file here.

Mac: Go to the Apple menu and click ‘About This Mac’.

Please post the info I requested from the original poster.

Just clarify if you are receiving this error while installing the Launcher or an engine version.

Then post your dxdiag (system specs).

  • Windows: Go to the Start menu and type ‘dxdiag’ into the search bar. Open that file and then click ‘Save All Information’. Post that text file here.

  • Mac: Go to the Apple menu and click ‘About This Mac’.

I’m having this issue as well, here’s my dxdiag. I’m able to download and install the launcher, however the launcher can’t install the engine (4.7.6)

I’m connecting from China on vacation, so I’m not sure if that’s part of the issue.

Is there an alternate download location I can manually install from? Thanks for any help.link text

Hi Async0x42,

You are using the Windows 10 Preview, this is not a currently supported operating system and it will likely cause errors downloading from the Launcher and running the editor.

We plan to offer full support for Windows 10 upon it’s official release.

I’m using OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 and this error pops up when I install unreal engine 4.7.6 from launcher. What should I do?

Hi 01e,

Try the steps in this section of the troubleshooting guide.

If nothing there works, follow the steps in the excepted answer in this post to clear out any remains of the install and reinstall the engine version.

After you have tried both of those and if you are still unable to install the engine, post your full System Specs.

Hello, I also am getting the

“Could not download installation information. Please try again later. Code: 1”

error when trying to download unreal tournament launcher.

Is there any alternative to completely removing the engine and re-installing. I’ve got several development projects going outside of unreal tournament and can’t really do that. It deletes my ART asset etc when i remove the engine versions.

I’ve deleted everything under C:\Program Files\Epic Games

but still I get the same error. Tried closing the launcher, relaunching etc. I don’t really want uninstall all of my engine versions because i have files under them for ART etc.

This happened after upgrading engine to 4.8, I had deleted unreal tournament before upgrading to 4.8… and am trying to reinstall after that. Not sure if it makes a difference
