Keybindings don't work with Synergy

This is more a nuisance than anything because it works if I disable Synergy but I would like to be able to use UE without having to do so since it kind of screws up my workflow having to switch between half a dozen keyboards and mice. I’ll open a trouble ticket with the makers of Synergy as well - not sure which program is causing the issue to occur but it might well be on their end (Photoshop does the same thing with mouse events).

I used to use Synergy a long time ago and I seem to remember it not playing well with UE4 when UE4 was running on a client machine. Is UE4 on the main server machine or a client machine? I can’t say we directly support something like that, but my main suggestion would be to use your UE4 machine as the server.

UE4 is on the server machine, haven’t tried it on a client machine as of yet.

I went ahead an opened a bug report on Synergy’s GitHub page (linked here incase anyone stumbles across this page via Google later on.)

As of right now, since it doesn’t seem to be isolated to UE4, I am going to mark this answered for tracking purposes. If it comes back from them and you think it might be on our end, simply respond to this post and we can investigate further.

Synergy Server: Macbook Pro on MacOS Sierra 10.12.3
Synergy Client: Mac Pro 2014 with UE 4.10~4.14~4.15P2 on MacOS Sierra 10.12.3

I always use keyboard of mbp and bt-magic-mouse or usb mouse connected to macbook pro (not touchpad !).
Specially for Unreal Engine (runs on mac pro) problem is mouse controls in viewport and right click still buggy (drag doesn’t works). impossible to use of UE remotely via synergy w/o mouse :/.
That problem still on UE only.
Photoshop, Maya, Zbrush, Substance Painter and 99% apps/games works through synergy, but UEditor doesn’t… :frowning:

So, what i did/do specially for UE job-session until now without synergy:

  1. I open UE project from network drive (macpro owned) on macbook pro. Work only with single display.
  2. If single display is not enough then i disconnecting big display from macpro, connect special thunderbolt>hdmi adapter to macbook pro and connect big display to macbook pro. As result performance littlebit reduced with second 4k monitor. But its OK if dont use 2+ viewports etc.
  3. If its not OK for performance (2+ viewports, realtime profiling or just testing quality image i have PLAN C > i just move to mac pro (reconnect display, keyboard and mouse every time)

Looks like hell and waste time sometimes with that “games” with hardware, wires and connect/disconnections :frowning:
That discomfort i feel only with UE on macs.
Then I report that issues to synergy github and they says “problem is in UE”.

I tried to use synergy on every new UE release beginning from v4.8 until now, but nothing changed for mac version… I think problem is macos-specific “mouse handle events” which hardcoded in UEditor.

I can provide any information which could to explain that problem . But PLEASE anybody from technicians please fix that one for macs. Please

PS: And I dont use windows long time. I use only OSX and Debian. Most of run windows from another VM like Parallels or VirtualBox.
