Animations and mixamo

I’ve got a question about animations.

Since I’m on a limited budget, I can’t hire an animator to do all the work for me. So I was thinking of buying the animations for the project.

The thing is, the climbing system I use, has a different skeleton. I wanted to buy animations from, say, mixamo and then add them to the game.

What is the best way of doing this? Keep in mind I’m not an animator myself, I’m a 3D artist.

I hope you will find the answer from this link:

Best of lucks.

Thanks, philUnreal! We actually have a new series of tutorials for Mixamo and UE4 that have updated information.

In a little more detail, if your system has a skeleton requirement then you’ll need to use that skeleton. You can upload any custom skeleton to Mixamo. The general process would be:

  • Create your character with custom skeleton for climbing system
  • Upload your character to www.mixamo.com (with the skeleton)
  • It will ask you to map your skeleton to ours so we know what bones are what
  • Apply animations and download as normal
  • The animation data is applied on your custom skeleton!
