How do I possess another character?

Hey Gang,

So I made a duplicate of the “MyCharacter” blueprint. What I’m aiming to do is press a button and then have control over the OTHER character (the duplicate character) I’ve placed in my level. How do I do this? What is the proper Blueprint set-up? I need to enable / disable some inputs within these blueprints as well?

Hey VagrantProfile,

You can download Content Examples from our Marketplace. Simply go to the Learn tab and it’ll be nested under ‘Engine Feature Samples’. Once you have Content Examples open within the Editor, go to the Maps folder and double-click on the ‘Animation’ map.

The section that you’ll likely want to take a close look at is: 1.10 - Playable Character Animation Blueprint

This is an example of pressing the green button and actually possessing the Owen character as a playable character. Here is the documentation from this specific section: [Setting up a Character][1]

Within Content Examples, you’re able to actually take a look at how they set up the blueprints for each section. So if you click on Owen that’s sitting at 1.10 section in the Animation map, you’ll be able to review the blueprint used. You can always choose the green button and look at that blueprint as well.

Hopefully this information will help you achieve the goal you’re aiming for. Good luck!
