Using normal maps on transparent materials?

Trying to apply a normal map on my translucent material. The normal map works on a standard material but stops when I set it to translucent. The normal map input pin hasnt been greyed out either so it has confused me a bit.

Just turn translucency lighting mode to “TLM Surface” and it works. It’s under the translucency tab in the details panel when you select the attributes node. ; )

Thank you, Worked perfectly

No problem!!

Options have changed in 4.10, does anybody know what this is called now?
Thx!

Can you be more specific please? I am in version 4.10 and I dont find the TLM surface

You want ‘Volumetric Non-Directional’ under Lighting Mode. It’s called that now.

Tnx all, however firstly I went after “Surface TranslucencyVolume” because AttemptD said surface TLM. It seems the Metalic Specular and Roughness are active only in Surface TranslucencyVolume and Surface ForwardShading (based on the names I think the shading one must have lighter weight, not sure). (update 4.20.2)
