Can't build UE4Editor from GitHub

Hello. I have GitHub version of UE4.
All work OK, until yesterday, when I decide to upgrade it to last version.
So I pull from git and rebuild. But get error (don’t save it, through).
Then I delete whole folder with UE4 and checkout it again, “Setup”, “GenerateProjectFiles”, rebuild solution and error again (same, I suppose). Help me to launch it, please.

I apologize for the slow response to your post. Are you still having trouble with this issue? Were you using the Release branch, or did you get the Promoted or Master branch instead?

Hey There, I have similar problems with several Tools needed for the Development Editor just skipped. Sometimes it happens that when I recreate my Projectfiles and Rebuild, it skips Projects like the ShaderCompileWorker.

I tried deleting Intermediate, Saved and DerivedDataCache Folders and deleting the Solution, then generating the Solution again with the GenerateProjectFiles.bat (or when in Project itself by right clicking on the project and “Generate Visual Studio Project Files”).

Nothing Works until I switch all needed Projects in the Solution’s Config Settings to Checked by Hand. I compared these settings with other systems and with a solution after cleanly creating a workspace and gettingLatest Files for the first time. They are also missing the checked checkboxes for several projects, but still compile everything correctly.

Does the Buildtool do something under the hood to check which projects it will compile and what do I have to either delete or change back, so it does what it was when first creating the workspace?

Could you clarify the errors you are seeing, where they occur, and the exact steps you are following? I just created a new code project (with version 4.7.6), built it in Visual Studio, then deleted the Build and Intermediate folders, as well as the .sln and .suo files, Generated project files, and rebuilt the project in Visual Studio. It built successfully for me.

It was release branch 4.7.2 (update to 4.7.3).
Now I don’t use github version, but I’ll have to in future to compile project for XP

From your original description, I am guessing that you are using the GitHub Windows client to pull down a local copy of your repository of the UE4 source code, correct? I just pulled down a new local copy of the UE4 repository, ran Setup.bat and GenerateProjectFiles.bat, then successfully built the Engine in Visual Studio.

What do you have Solution Configurations and Solution Platforms set to when the build fails for you?

Correct. Don’t think I can repeat it now. It will be better to ask again when will start use github version again.
And yes, I almost sure, what it something wrong in my VS properties. All other stuff was deleted and totally renew.

I cant reproduce it all the time, it once in a while happens when I merge stuff from one branch to another, then generateProjectFiles and open the Engine Solution for Building.

Strange thing is that when I create a fresh workspace, everything compiles correctly allthough the settings in VS Project are incorrect: i.e. saying that for the chosen build config Projects like the ShaderCompileWorker shouldnt be build.

I only have that situation, when I made changes to the engine and need to recompile. Not sure if it happens because of a clean build.

I will have a deeper look on this as soon as I run into this issue again.
